Collector Components

This Task aims at the purchase price reduction for end-users of installed solar thermal systems by evaluating and developing sustainable means to reduce production and/or installation costs on material, sub-component, system-component and system level.

The objective of this Task is the assessment of the applicability and the cost reduction potential by using polymeric materials and polymer based novel designs of suitable solar thermal systems.

The objectives of this Task are to determine the solar visual and thermal performance of materials and components, such as advanced glazing, for use in more energy efficient, comfortable, sustainable buildings.

This Task aims to develop the scientific, engineering and architectural basis to support the appropriate use of advanced glazings in buildings in order to achieve significant energy and environmental benefits.

Participants in Task 10 evaluated the energy benefits of a number of new materials for solar applications and their impact on system o component performance.

In this task, priority was given to the development of reliable and practical methods for assessing the performance of collectors and complete systems and for evaluating their reliability and durability.

As the only project devoted solely to information exchange, Task 2 served as a useful adjunct to the joint IEA SHC research activities.
